A special thanks to our 3 students and teachers from 2015-16 who designed, built and planted the amazing FHPS garden.
The summer provided several volunteer Fossil Hill
families with zucchini, peppers, beans,
cucumbers, lettuce and many herbs. The fall has tomatoes ripening by the day
and our students are eating them up, literally. Students have made fried green
tomatoes, salsa, bruschetta and tomato pizzas. A great tie into our healthy
eating units while touching on math (measurement and fractions) and language
for procedural writing (how to write instructions for following a recipe). The
students will be turning our garden over soon for the winter months but look
forward to tackling another garden come spring.
